King Kutter Editorial Review
If you are looking for a Replacement Gearbox for your King Kutter, the Code 184005 by Rural King seems like a great option. The versatile model fits in different models of King Kutter sizes, and some rotary cutters from other brands. However, it is suggested that you contact the vendor to ensure that it is compatible with your cutter or mower. Customers seem to be happy with their purchase for the most part. Many have found that it fits perfectly, is easy to install, and runs smoothly. The gearbox comes in black, so some customers have spray-painted it to match their machinery. One customer advises that to remove the stump jumper, purchasing two metal splitting wedges from Harbor Freight could be helpful. They were able to put pressure on the piece by driving the wedges between the stump jumper and the deck. They then put the castle nut back on the shaft backwards and screwed it flush to the bottom of the shaft. Finally, they smacked the shaft of the gear box with the castle nut with a sledgehammer. It's essential to note if the gearbox you are replacing has been in use for some time; you should inspect the bolts for tightness after the first few uses. A customer reported that they noticed a leak at the input shaft after using it a couple of times, but the issue turned out to be that all of the bolts were loose. Overall, customers seem to be pleased with their purchase, and most reports show that it is a good fit, easy to install, and an affordable replacement option.
